Old Journal Excerpts Part 1:

The things that plagued me growing up seem so insignificant now that I have adult responsibilities and a bit of maturity. But I guess there are bits of this old me below in the current me… It’s hilarious to look back on now! I was scared of rejection

April 7, 1998 Katie said, “I know who you like, Amy.” I looked at her like yeah-right-he’s-a-geek but deep, down I was thinking ‘Noooooooooo! Who told her? This was supposed to be a SECRET!’

April 7, 1998 “..hair that’s slicked forward and then turned up at the front like the guys on ‘Friends’. He’s pale with a few freckles and almond shaped eyes. The only things he’s ever said to me are ‘What’s your last name?’ and then ‘Oh.’”

I was a competitive computer geek.

April 8, 1998 “We just got Windows ‘98 and I hadn’t got a chance to try it out yet, and I had to email Geocities concerning my homepage. So I kicked Nick off the computer and told him he could have it after supper because I had homework. Then he came back in 10 mins and said he wanted the computer! Not fair!!”

I was a bit of a rebel.

April 8, 1998 “I have never ever really given anyone the middle finger before, but let me tell you, it felt good.”

I was a little narcissistic…

April 23, 1998 “I mean he looked at me at recess, for like 3 whole seconds!”

I was loyal.

April 24, 1998 “Chris and Richard decided to get their faces painted, too. A few minutes later when they stepped out of the face painting classroom, Riley and Tessa noticed that they had ‘Riley is a guy’ painted on their faces.” That was so mean. Riley was really sad and angry.

October 23, 1998 “Once, Danielle went to sit beside Tessa, but tessa stuck her arm out so she couldn’t. That’s really mean.”

I had fun.

May 3, 1998 “At Nadine’s house we made a really cool dance to a Backstreet Boys song, podgied a collage onto the front of a binder and read YM magazines.”

June, 1998 “We all got Nicknames at Nadine’s cottage. Here they are: Tessa - mom, Crystal - Sprinkle, Katie - Patty, Riley - Chuck, Nadine - Cootie, Me - Alphalpha”

I was boy-crazy

October 23, 1998 “Danielle, Nadine, Riley, Tessa and I all like the same guy, I think. But I liked him first!”
